On Monday, we took the girls to their 15 month old well baby check-up. Gabby weighs 22lbs 4oz and is 31 inches tall! That is the 43% and 69%, respectively. Lilly weighs 21lbs 4oz and is also 31 inches tall! She is in the 27% and 69%, respectively. They are both very healthy and happy babies!
They received the MMR and Chicken Pox vaccines and cried unlike ever before. It always breaks my heart for them to go through pain from shots and medical tests. It reminds me of all the poking and prodding in the NICU and I just wish I could take all the pain from them. They did recover quickly and were back being ornery as ever in no time at all!
Life with my girls is busy, hectic, and absolutely wonderful. Below are some specifics about what Miss G and Miss L are doing these days.
Gabby Lou
- You rule the roost lately. You love taking toys from sister, holding onto her clothes while trying to catch her, and having mini-fits whenever things don't go the way you planned. You so remind me of myself, little girl. :)
- You are talking up a storm. You now say hi, Gabby, Tinkerbell, bye bye, JJ, outside (sounds like 'side'), go go go, bubbles, and Mama and Dada, of course. You are living up to your name sweet girl, and Daddy and I love it!
- Speaking of Dada, he is your rockstar. You follow him around like a lost puppy and I'm just sure he is your hero. You also have Mama moments, as I call them. You love cuddle time with Mama, but not for too long. You have plans and things to do afterall.
- You are walking everywhere and trying to run. You climb onto low furniture, dance whenever you hear any music, and twirl.
- You blow kisses, wave when entering or leaving a place, give hugs and kisses on command (half the time!), and shake your head 'no' when you don't want to eat or do something.
- Your favorite thing to do these days is read. You bring book after book to Daddy and I and get quite angry if we do not start reading immediately. There are days when you and Lilly never even get out your other toys because you are so busy with books all day long. You already remember pages and say 'baa baa' when we read Baa Baa Black Sheep, moo whenever you see a cow on the pages, and touch your nose when appropriate. If you are ever unconsolable, all I have to do is start rattling off Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do You See? and you immediately listen, book or no book, it is your favorite!
- You eat off a plate now and use a spoon most of the time.
- And lastly, you love playing with Lilly. You girls try to chase eachother around, crawl and laugh as if you know you are being silly, and play dress up together. It is such a joy to watch you grow every day!
Lilly Girl
- You have become the more mellow, laid back girl in our house. You aren't a pushover, however. You will fight when sister takes something of yours, come to Mama for help, or tense all your muscles in protest! I know you are so frustrated, but I can't help but think you are just the cutest thing ever.
- You are such a good sleeper. Most days Mama and Dada have to wake you up from both of your naps. You are like your Daddy in that way. When we do wake you, you LOVE to be held and cuddled. And, in case you didn't know, that is one of the best parts of my day as well! :)
- You are very active. You run all over our house, climb on everything, jump on the furniture and in your bed, and are all around very lively. In this manner, you are teaching Gabby the ropes. She can't do all the climbing you can do yet, but you are teaching her quickly!
- Being outside is your favorite place to be! You love spashing in your water table, swimming in the pool, and going for walks. You always bring me the bubble machine and insist on catching the bubbles.
- You are trying so hard to talk. You say Dada, Mama, JJ, and bubbles. I sort of believe that you have learned that you don't have to talk much because Gabby, Mama, or Dada does for you. We are working on that!
- You love using a spoon when you eat. You'll hate me for telling people this, but you've been known to spit out food onto your spoon and eat it again. You do whatever it takes to get food on that spoon. You also eat from a plate, but you usually dump your food after about 10 minutes. In your defense you are a very clean dumper.
- You and sister both love Elmo. Mommy lets you watch it for 20 minutes in the morning (even though she feels guilty the whole time!). Elmo is second only to Dada at our house.
- When you play, you like to read books or play with small toys. You always have your hands full with little blocks, balls, and usually small things you find on the floor that you shouldn't have. Daddy and I joke that we are going to take you to a diamond mine soon because we are just sure you could find the goods! You are already a collector. You bring Mama 'presents' (flower petals, grass bits, wood chips, etc) all the time. I think it is very sweet.
- You are so lovey these days. You give out kisses to just about anyone who asks. Other than hearing you and Gabby laugh for the first time, the best moments I've had with you girls is when you two start hugging and kissing on each other. Sometimes we ask you to, but sometimes you just do it on your own. It makes me all warm and fuzzy to know my girls are besties.
The past 15 months have been challenging, exhausting, the best of my life. I am so blessed to have been chosen to be a part of your lives. I love you, honey girls.
