Double the Fun Run!!!

How divas support a cause...

My family belongs to a local twins group in our area. We are a part of OMOMs and NOMOTC. This year we had our first ever Double the Fun Run to fundraise for our outreach and events!

As a group we reach out and support other mothers and families with twins. We support expecting mothers, mothers and babies in the days following post-partum, and have events through out the year like mom's night out, couples night, and family events such as a Christmas party, Easter egg hunt, and trip to the pumpkin patch.

We also outreach to different organizations within our area such as the local NICU and are looking to add more areas next year.

As a mother of twins it is so nice to have other twin mommies as friends. I value the time I spend with them so much. It is nice to know that what happens in my house is normal...you know...like the 18 piles of laundry daily: normal... debating checking myself into a psychiatric hospital twice a month: normal...struggling to be a wife and a mom while continuing to recognize the person looking back at me in a mirror: normal.

So for all of those reasons I am so excited to share with you our Double the Fun Run! It was a 5K, 10K, and 1 mile walk with a 50 yeard Tike Trot as well. We were very pleased with our turn-out this year and thankful for all that we will be able to do during the coming year to help people within our community!

We especially want to thank Grammie and Nanny for coming out to support us (and helping with our girls because, let's face it, when everyone has at least twins and some triplets, singletons, etc., you have to have family to help because everyone else is busy!)

For anyone who doesn't have twins in their life, they are a completely new lesson on what being a best friend for life really means.
