Parker @ Six Months

My handsome little man is 6 months old today!

Here's a little bit about our Parker:

  • Parker weighs pounds 20lbs (89 percentile) and is 29 inches long (93 percentile). And yes that does make him a really big boy! Not only is he big, he's really strong. We absolutely love having a chunky, strong little man. At first I just thought my family was just amusing us by talking about how big he is, but as more and more random strangers bestow upon me parenting advice to 'make sure you put that boy in football' I'm realizing they are just calling it like they see it. Speaking of percentiles, even his pediatrician said if she could measure personality, he's definitely be in the 100 percentile. Apparently, his father's ability to demand attention wherever he is as well as a knack for flirting passed right onto our sweet P! :)

  • Parker wears 12 month clothes these days. He can wear a few 9 month outfits, but the days of getting by with those are numbered. Everything I'm buying for fall and winter is 12 or 18 months. Initally he needed the room only length wise, but as of late, he's needed the belly room too! :) Did I mention that daddy squeezed him into a 3 month outfit the other day? Well he did. When I saw it and suggested we change him, we actually had to CUT IT OFF. Not kidding. We also just went up to size 4 diapers for P. To put it in perspective, his itty bitty sisters wore a size 4 diaper at 2 1/2 when they potty training. Makes me wonder how long before he goes from being the little brother to more like the big brother. ;)

  • P. Diddy as I've sorta called him a coule times (enough that his sisters picked up on it) still has lots of medium brown hair and big baby blue eyes. From there down, its chubby cheeks, a budha belly, and the rolly poley-est little legs!

  • Favorite toys: Well, he doesn't really have any. Favorites that is. The boy has plenty of toys. The problem is that he gets so angry when he plays with them. He shakes them around like crazy and spends the whole time yellng and squwaking really loud. I'm not sure if he thinks they should be doing something or what. I will say that recently we discovered that he likes to 'play' his baby piano and is totally amused with balls: rolling, throwing, getting hit in the head with them. He loves it all.

  • Favorite food: Anything orange! Plus apples and pears. The boy really enjoys most anything, but I do still mix his green vegetables with an orange vegetable. So far Parker has had pears, apples, peaches, bananas, peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, and squash baby food. He also loves oatmeal! He's also been introduced to puff snacks, homeade biter biscuits, and rice rusks. All of which he loves! I have some really neat new baby food recipes to make for him and since he's old enough for the next stage, we should be trying them out soon! As far as bottles go, Parker only takes 4 bottles a day, about 18-20 ounces. He also uses a sippy cup some for drinking water. He can get water out of it, but still needs a little help tipping it back.

Our sweet boy spends his time all around the house. He loves sitting in his bumbo chair on the counter helping me make food. He also enjoys his exersaucer and jumperoo. Parker likes sitting up too and is sturdy now. If he's tired or been on his tummy for a long tim, he's wobbly, but other than that he's got it down. When on a blanket on the floor, he spends almost all his time on his tummy. We lay him on his back and he will immediately roll over. We call it the superman position because he spends so much time with only his belly touching the floor and his hands and feet up off the blanket. You try it for a while and you'll understand why he's a pretty strong little guy. Because he's gearing up for the heavyweight division and strong enough to hold himself, we will be buying the next size carseat in the next couple weeks. He only has 1 more inch of length before he exceeds the length requirement. ;)

  • Parker is also scooting backwards and getting himself up on his hands and knees. He rocks back and forth. I've seen him move a knee up once or twice, but no official crawling yet (thank goodness!).

  • Mr. P is into anything and everything he can reach. He learned early how great hands were for getting ahold of all sorts of treasures. Anything from hair to plastic bags on the counter to my cell phone. He's tried to get it all which is why we already have to watch him like a hawk! (Which is super easy because he's seriously cute!) :)

  • And last, but certainly the most defining bit about our sweet boy is his demeanor. He is the happiest baby. Ever. There are many days where we literally don't hear him cry once. He's always smiling and seems to have the making of a big personality. Its funny because people who approach us at the store are always so happy because they get him to smile at them. I keep it to myself that the boy literally smiles from sun up to sun down. He's so easy going and really patient. It can be like 30 minutes past when he should have eaten and he'll just be happy as can be knawing on his hand or a biter biscuit. When I say he is joy personified, I really mean it.
